Uphill pedal efficiency is irrelevant on a downhill bike – the ability for the shock to separate impact forces from the rider’s body is the important factor – which this system fails at. If the rear triangle was connected directly to the shock, and not the bottom bracket, then it might work better, but really it’s fundamentally flawed.
