Coleman Sundome 2 Person Tent Review Great Price

To begin with, camping tents are something you just cannot miss buying if you are planning a fun weekend trip unless you want to freeze under the sky. But, why we find this brand name to be so recognizable is because this name is pretty much everywhere. They are known for manufacturing some of the most used and essential travel items from canopy tents to camping tents.

Recently, I got the chance to camp for a few days in various weather conditions in the Coleman Elite Sundome Tent. This freestanding tent is in my opinion designed for car camping. It weighs around 22 lbs in the bag so it’s not a tent I would want to have to carry for a long period of time. What differentiates the Elite Model from the regular Sundome is the Elite is a little larger and comes with an LED lighting system and hinged door. The Sundome is a well though out tent with some very nice features, but it also a few shortcomings.

This is a nice tool to use in relatively dry conditions and for occasional outdoor excursions and camping with a car access. It will provide you a shelter against annoying insects, and it will protect you from the wind and light rain. Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the various types of tents you will see when camping.

The carry bag boasts a ten-minute setup, but it only took me a little over eight. In no time at all (less then ten minutes actually), the Coleman camping tent was standing and ready to go in our back yard. Once inside, Silke commented on how well ventilated it was. This is nice in the summer, but we’ve camped in the late fall before and we were freezing. We will need to bring some extra blankets along from now on.

Since then, have used it in various weather conditions ranging from hot humid temperatures to heavy rain storms. I can now recommend this tent as a good choice for summer. You can push the poles through the sleeves when doing both, it just adds time. The metal tips clipped to each corner were easy to insert into the base of the tent poles. Easily set up with Instaclip pole attachments and snag-free continuous pole sleeves, the 4P is excellent value for money.

I’m not quite sure of what four people the company was referring to when they say it ‘sleeps four’. The upside, it still looked brand new and cosmetically didn’t really show any wear at all. The downside, coleman ice chest the poles that support it are made of what appears to be a fiberglass material that with age have started to disintegrate. Item arrived earlier and we are able to use it na for our family camping.

Plan B was to set the tent up on the BSA summer camp standard issue wood platforms covered by an old canvas tent. That plan was ultimately thwarted by all the missing slats in the most level platform I could find. To save a bit more time with set up and pack down, you could also consider the Pop-Up tents. Even after we figured in the size of the air mattress, we still had plenty of room to store our gear off to the sides plus the little bed for our dog Lily. In my opinion, the Coleman is the best waterproof tent on the market. So, keeping in line with what Coleman calls a four person instant tent, I went along the same lines once again while choosing our new tent.

The larger poles can easily be replaced but the ones that were used for the rain fly couldn’t be replaced. The Sundome 6-person dome tent is up to 33% more water-resistant versus a comparable standard Coleman® tent. All packed up, the Sundome 6 weighs 16.6lb, and the packed size of its travel bag is 28”x13”x8”. Once coleman sundome you’ve put together the main tent, adding the rainfly is a fairly simple process. The Sundome’s quick pitch time, compact pack size and light weight make this a great tent for weekend breaks and touring camping. Bear in mind, this is a rather heavy tent and not the best choice for backpacking or hiking tours.
